Corporate Self-Defense & Personal Safety Training/Consultancy in Boston

An organization’s greatest and most important assets are its employees. What makes a company/organization successful are the people who work for it. Increasing the personal safety and security of a company/organization’s workforce is an investment worth making. Gershon Ben Keren has been providing security consultancy, personal safety and self-defense training for over thirty years in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has worked with a wide variety of different companies, operating in a diverse selection of industries and sectors, including (but not limited to) mining, construction, banking and finance, along with healthcare etc. Some of the training services he has provided include de-escalation and conflict resolution to customer facing staff, travel-security to executives and employees who work abroad or in other cities and states, along with active shooter training, and consultancy concerning organization’s hiring and firing policies e.g., when hiring and bringing “new” employees into a company their potential threats are usually overshadowed by their competency etc.

Corporate Personal Safety Training in Boston

Whilst many people’s first thoughts around self-defense are about learning physical techniques to deal with threats and attacks, there is self-protection and personal-safety piece which is more important, and which without lessens the chance of physical techniques being successful. If individuals can learn how to predict, identify and avoid violence before it occurs, then they may never have to deal with a violent assault. Also, understanding how aggressive and violent situations develop in different contexts can better prepare people for dealing with situations that may turn violent.

This type of training goes beyond the usual “do’s and don’ts” that are associated with personal safety e.g., don’t walk down dark alleys, always walk with your purse strap over/on the opposite shoulder etc. Rather than being based on what may seem to constitute good ideas and strategies – such as throwing your wallet and purse on the ground away from you if you’re ever mugged – that will instead escalate such incidents, this training is researched and evidentially based. Gershon Ben Keren is a criminologist (he has two master’s degrees in criminology and psychology, and is an active member of the APA (American Psychological Association, the ASC (American Society of Criminology) and IACA (International Association of Crime Analysts), who has been working in the security industry since 1990, and so rather than limiting his understanding of violence to personal experience, he basis his programs on what the data and academic research tells us about how real-life violence is experienced. This makes the corporate training programs he offers, whether it is hands-on self-defense training or self-protection/personal-safety training, practical, reliable and effective.

I hired Gershon Ben Keren to come to our office in Newton and teach the SEPS Women's self-defense class after the [Amy Lord] South Boston kidnapping incident. This is not your average self-defense class. You won't be hearing the obvious, don't be on your cell phone, don't walk down a dark alley etc. You will learn how not to be chosen as the victim. Gershon has a background in psychology, military training and personal protection. You will feel like you are watching the Mentalist or an episode of CSI.
