KMY Boston has put on a number of self-defense seminars for students and student groups at Boston colleges and universities, some of these have been specifically designed for the groups themselves whereas others have been organized by the group and open to all students at the college/university. These seminars can have a specific focus, such as campus safety, anti-mugging and/or de-escalating dangerous situations, or be more general in nature, covering a variety of self-defense and personal safety issues etc. These are similar to the small group training classes and seminars that we put on for other groups and organizations. We can host such training sessions at our facility just north of Boston, or on campus.
Unfortunately, violent crime tends to focus younger people, due to the social settings they find themselves in, and so students are often become targets of violence. There are also offenders who specifically target students, knowing that they may be unfamiliar with the city landscape (if they are from other cities, states and locations etc.), and because they are likely to have modern devices, such as phones and laptops etc. This means that learning how to predict, prevent and avoid being targeted, along with knowing how to handle an aggressive and potentially violent situation is something that college and university students should know how to do.
If you are the head or organizer of a student group at a Boston university or college who is looking to put on an event/seminar, or a short self-defense course etc., please contact us about what you are looking to put on and we will be happy to work with you so that we both meet your needs and provide an enjoyable and productive self-defense training experience.
